Houston area drivers faced a challenging commute on Monday evening, with over 550 traffic incidents reported across the region. According to the Houston TranStar system, there were a total of 554 incidents, including 277 major crashes and an additional 277 minor incidents.
The majority of the incidents, 532 in total, occurred within Harris County. Neighboring Fort Bend County saw 18 incidents, while Montgomery County reported 4 incidents. The high volume of crashes and hazards led to significant delays and congestion throughout the Houston metropolitan area.
Some of the more significant incidents included a report of a vehicle fire following a crash on West Montgomery Road, a three-car collision at the intersection of Franklin Street and Louisiana Street, and a crash involving a car and a horse on Gears Road. Additionally, there were multiple reports of debris on freeways causing traffic hazards, including wood debris on the West Loop North and Memorial Drive.
With the large number of incidents, drivers are advised to remain cautious, allow for extra travel time, and avoid distractions while behind the wheel. Motorists are encouraged to check traffic updates and plan their routes accordingly to navigate the congested roadways safely.
