SH-99 crash at San Jacinto River slows northeast flow

A crash on SH-99 eastbound at the San Jacinto River in Montgomery County brought traffic to a crawl Thursday morning. The collision happened around 11:46 AM, and responding officers worked to clear the debris and reopen lanes.

The eastbound side took the hit, with multiple lanes affected during the initial response. Traffic backed up significantly as crews worked the scene — if you were heading toward the Grand Parkway junction, you felt this one. The road carries consistent volume through that stretch, and a midday incident means commuters crossing between Montgomery and Harris counties got caught in the spillover.

Conditions at the time were partly cloudy and warm — 81 degrees — so weather wasn't a factor here. It's just one of those Thursday-afternoon situations where a single crash can jam up a major corridor for an hour or more.
