Contributing factors as recorded by the investigating officer, per TxDOT CRIS, show "Failed To Control Speed" as the leading factor, cited in 424 crashes at this corridor over the past six years. The hit-and-run rate stands at 9.4 percent, meaning roughly one in every eleven crashes here involved a vehicle that left the scene.

Sunday's crash fits the broader Harris County context: the county recorded 15,818 incidents in the past 30 days, including 21 fatalities. While crashes here happen at varied times rather than clustering in a single rush-hour window, the single busiest hour remains 4–5 PM, when the corridor has recorded 18 crashes.
