Morning crash at Carved Rock and dead-end intersection

A major crash at Carved Rock Drive and its dead-end intersection shut down the intersection early Tuesday morning at 6:01 AM, injuring at least one person and drawing emergency crews to the scene.

According to state crash records from the Texas Department of Transportation, this stretch of Carved Rock has seen 23 crashes since January 2020, with driver inattention cited as the leading contributing factor in five of those incidents. Contributing factors as recorded by the investigating officer, per TxDOT CRIS, show "Driver Inattention" as the leading factor, cited in 5 crashes. The corridor also recorded a hit-and-run rate of 11.1% over that same period.

Tuesday's crash marked another incident at an intersection where traffic hazards have been the most frequently recorded incident type over the past 90 days, according to LTA data. Across Harris County, emergency crews handled 13,736 incidents over the past month, with nine proving fatal.

Weather conditions at the time were overcast with temperatures around 75 degrees — conditions that typically don't impair visibility or traction. Authorities worked to clear the scene and restore normal traffic flow through the intersection.
